- you're dying
you're dying
and that's a good thing

We are lying to ourselves.
“I will do it tomorrow.”
“Surely, but in the morning, it’s too late now.”
“Not now, I’m busy.”
Does this sound familiar, friend?
Both you and me, we seem to take life lightly.
We live in the assumption that there will be a tomorrow.
Shocker - there might not be.
Let me explain.
You probably have already lost someone to life. Your grandma/grandpa might already not be there.
Even though they were there for most of your life, now they are not.
And science does not yet know the wonders of resurrection.
It means that once they are gone, they are gone for good.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t want you to exist in a constant existential dread.
Quite the opposite.
It’s because life is so fragile, we should be bold.
We would be making life a disservice if we didn’t take full advantage of everything it gives us.
And if we do not do that, those are the regrets we might have:
So…
What does living to the fullest mean?
1. Chasing Your Dream
Finding purpose is your number one objective.
Paraphrasing Viktor Frankl, life doesn’t innately make sense.
It’s our mission to make it make sense.
And we do that through having a mission.
Viktor Frankl turned his harrowing concentration camp experience into something others could learn from.
He devoted his life to helping people overcome adversity and find their purpose.
If you search, investigate, and try many things, you’ll discover something that makes you tick. (but that’s a topic for a whole new newsletter issue)
It’s in your hands to find something worth living for.
2. Cherishing Relationships
Alongside this road we call life, we will meet people.
Some will be part of our family; others will be people we find during our pursuit of meaning.
Humans are social animals.
We might not always like being in crowds, or dancing at parties, but everyone needs someone.
I mean that not only in a romantic but also platonic sense.
Climbing a hill alone might be satisfying, but sharing the moment with someone close elevates that experience.
It becomes a near-immortal memory, stuck in your memory, and stuck in someone else’s.
3. Being Present
During those shared moments, we are reminded why being in the moment is essential.
Imagine climbing a very, very challenging mountain.
And along the way, you didn’t focus on grabbing the right ledges, and you would slip up.
Sometimes it would cost you a bruise; other times, your life.
Take time to appreciate the times you didn’t slip up.
Be better.
Be in the moment, and grab the right ledges.
4. Using Your Life
Maybe the mountain metaphor isn’t hitting for you.
Let’s switch it up.
You might have a dream of traveling to Japan.
Working towards it every day, counting cash to grab that flight ticket finally, are all helping you achieve that dream.
And after you accomplish it, you might want to see other edges of the world.
Seeing everything isn’t possible, but if we pick the right places for us, it might be as well.
We have something called Life Capital, and we should use it to the best of our abilities.
We shouldn’t be focused on work alone - we should also take time to explore what is out there.
However, at the same time, we should also focus on the inside.
5. Taking Care of You
We need to focus on ourselves to get the maximum benefit of all the points above.
Let’s take an airplane emergency as the metaphor here.
There is a reason why you should grab the oxygen mask first and then give one to your kid when a plane is losing cabin pressure.
If you were to pass out holding your kid’s mask, they would soon choke, because your hand would slip.
If you took care of yourself first, you could keep the mask on the kid’s face up until safety.
We must take care of ourselves first.
I will spare you the citation of some philosophers from different times.
We all instinctively know that a healthy body breeds more benefits than drawbacks.
When it comes to our mind, there are many things we can work out on our own time, using a journal and being introspective and raw with how we’re feeling about our life.
We can also employ doctors and specialists to aid this process.

the human mind
Those five points might not seem overwhelming, but they give you enough to do for the rest of your life, however long or short.
Don’t be one of those who do a video titled “I wasted my 20s” - there is no waste, only learnings.
Love you,
Piotr
